Higher vocational education is one new type of developing higher education,vocational college students have their own unique ideological characteristics, thepresentation of the problem is more obvious. Ideological and political education of highervocational students in schools is mainly through two ways, one is to accept the ideologicaland political education through class, the second is from ideological education of full-timecounselors’ influence in students by environment during daily management. The work ofcounselors is throughout the university life of students, it guides students’ learning inschool, work and life, the effectiveness of counselors’ work has significant influence to thedevelopment of vocational college students.This thesis is mainly in counselor’s position, combining with7years’ workexperience, draws a lot of research works and literature material from experts, scholarsand postgraduates on the construction of college counselors and college students’ideological and political education, it insists on the principle of the unity of defining thetheoretical basis and practice research, it discusses the counselors how to carry outideological and political education from many aspects of education,education managementscience, psychology, economics of education. The study shows: To aim at the developmentof thought of college students during new period, counselors’ work must keep pace withthe rhythm, they should have their own psychological knowledge, management experience,methods of education and many other skills, from students’ evaluation of teacher and theirown learning and living status and other aspects, the counselors look into students’ideological status, characteristics deeply, seize the key, and timely put forward methodsand ways to solve the problem. At the same time, the ideological education for highervocational students, is not the problem which can only be solved by the schools, we shouldstrengthen the education during the whole process of development in the students’ life,family,school and society should form a resultant force, mutually influences and educatescollege students.
