Survey Research On Ideological Situation Of Current University Students Majoring In Agricultural Science

Current university students are a new generation of young men facing towards new era, the world, and future, who are national hope and future, as well as hard core for establishment of socialism with Chinese characters. While among the university students, ones majoring in agricultural science are a special group of people included, whose sources are mostly coming from rural areas with low level of household income, poor educational environment, and poor living environment, leading to a certain difference with students in cities in aspects of outlook on life, value, political quality, view of school work, psychological qualities and so on. China is an agricultural country with a major proportion of agricultural population in total number of population. Issues of agriculture is the primary matter concerning the overall situation of reform and opening to the outside world in rural area and modernization, while the cultivation of talents majoring in agricultural science is the key in solving this problem. Instant and objective mastering of ideological situation of university students majoring in agricultural science for further cultivation of talents in agricultural science for contribution to China is significant to construction of new socialist countryside, maintaining social stability in rural area, promoting economic development in rural area and building a harmonious socialist society. In order to understand objectively and clearly the ideological situation of current university students majoring in agricultural science for further mastering the development of ideological and political education in higher institutions, students’ practical problems should be solved realistically, and the reasonable requirements of students should be correctly treated with the aim of cultivating builders and successors with integrated development intellectually and physically. This research chooses freshmen and sophomores in Shanxi Agricultural University as the objects. The author chooses1950students in the way of random selection in April,2013, and makes a questionnaire and then makes a subsequent interview survey, which mainly surveys on values, political quality, view of school work, and psychological quality and so on. The survey concludes that in the aspect of value of current university students majoring in agricultural science, most students’ values conform to mainstream value and the value orientation tends to display towards diversification and rational value judgment and selection.A small amount of university students display strong utilitarian and selfishness; in the aspect of political quality, they are with high degree of attention on politics, strong sensitivity to politics but with deviation between political consciousness with political study; in the aspect of view of school work, they are with active learning attitude, strong sense of leaning consciousness, emphasis on cultivation of comprehensive quality, high degree of passion on professional study, low degree of passion on political study; in the aspect of view of occupation, they have objective view on employment situation and sufficient preparation for employment. In addition, three standard of sexuality, whether being only child or not, household location are selected for contractive analysis. through research analysis with SPSS software, chi-square test is made as to attributes of university students majoring in agricultural science and their ideological situation with the aim of finding whether there is direct relation between attributes of university students majoring in agricultural science and their ideological situation or not. Finally, the thesis makes analysis on three aspects of factors of society, school, and classmates influencing ideological situation of university students, and finally, the countermeasures of building excellent social environment, conducting ideological and political education guided by socialist core value system, greatly improving the level of ideological and political education as to university students, as well as improving self-cultivation of university students are proposed.
