Group Psychology is a common social phenomenon that impacts various groups either positively or negatively. The university student, as one of the social groups, is deeply influenced by group psychology, among which the freshman is negligibly impacted on cognitive aspect. It is necessary to research and analyze the positive and negative influence of group psychology to university freshman at cognitive point, so as to enhance the moral education of higher education institutions.This paper discusses the topic of cognitive impact of group psychology to university freshman mainly from the following aspects, the current academic researches on the university student group psychology, mainly covering the topics of its performance, behavior, causes, influence, and solution, etc. It is concluded that college freshmen in conformity with learning conformity, consumer crowd, the love conformity three herd behavior. The student group psychology based on the questionnaire survey. It introduces the questionnaire design factors and practice, relatively quantitative calculates and analyzes the survey results, analyzes the impact of freshman group psychology on study, love relationship as well as consumption, compares the freshman and senior student from many aspects. Finally, it comes to the conclusion of the "two effects", ie.: class effect and dormitory effect.The causes of the freshman group psychology from four points of view, ie.: society, family, school, and personal aspect. It introduces the positive and negative effects of group psychology to freshman’s cognition.Takes the "Career Navigator " as an example, designs pathways to assist the educators to better guide the freshman from such official and unofficial groups as school, class, dormitory and associations and so forth, according to their cognitive influence from the group psychology.The conclusion and outlook. It concludes and figures out the limitation of this paper together with the future research direction. The higher education management and moral education staff should discard the dross while assimilating the essence of group psychology, guiding the freshman from the date of their enrollment, to help them to reduce the blindness, quickly adapt into the new environment, set the study motivation, enlarge personal knowledge, cultivate good quality, improve morality and establish ambitious life goals, which will makes the university to be the cradle of talents.
