Training talents, innovating science and technology, serving the society, inheritingcivilization are the important function of higher education. As an important part of highereducation, agriculture and forestry universities carrying out the Communist Party of China’seducation policy, making full use of advantages, have played an important role in trainingagricultural science and technology talents and innovating agricultural science and technology.But also, affected by pragmatism and utilitarianism, there are some problems in the postgraduateeducation of agriculture and forestry universities, attaching great importance to the scientificknowledge teaching and the ascension of graduate student’s scientific research ability,ignoring graduate student’s all-round development and the ideological and political educationand graduate students. At the same time, agriculture and forestry universities didn’t show itscharacteristics of agriculture and forestry in the ideological and political education, graduatestudent’s professional ideal of servicing agriculture, rural areas and farmers and ecologicalcivilization concept didn’t form in their mind. Adhering to the aspect "Education first, moraleducation ahead”, exploring an approach of the ideological and political education, which notonly enhancing the spiritual pillar of agricultural graduate students, firming the ideal andbelief of agricultural graduate students, but also perfecting the qualification of agriculturalgraduate students, enhancing the responsibility and mission of agricultural graduate students,cultivating the awareness of conservation, the awareness of servicing agriculture, rural areasand farmers of agricultural graduate students, is an important issue that the managers ofagriculture and forestry colleges face.Solving the problem of agriculture, rural areas and farmers, building an ecologicallycivilized society need a lot of high level scientists and technicians and the managerial talentfor agriculture and forestry. However, agricultural graduate students don’t want to work onagricultural sector when they graduated from colleges. Based on the fact, this study was toseek available solutions of ideological and political education, to further research theideological and political education. Based on the basic principle of ideological and politicaleducation, the relevant literature review, the paper defined the connotation of ideological andpolitical education of graduate students and ideological and political education of graduatestudents of agriculture and forestry colleges. Meanwhile, the paper summarized the featuresof ideological and political education of graduate students of agriculture and forestry colleges.In addition, the paper reviewed the development history of ideological and political educationof graduate students of agriculture and forestry colleges. Using the empirical analysis methodand inductive method, integrating theory with practice, combining quantitative and qualitativeanalysis, the research analyzed the problems of ideological and political education of graduate students of agriculture and forestry colleges on subject of education, object of education,copula of education and environment of education. At the same time, the research analyzedthe reasons of graduate students their own, agriculture and forestry colleges and universitieseducation, and the society. These provided empirical basis for the countermeasures ofideological and political education of graduate students of agriculture and forestry colleges.Finally, based on the analysis of problems and the reasons, this paper puts forward thecountermeasures of ideological and political education of graduate students of agriculture andforestry colleges. Firstly, the educator should pay more attention on ideological and politicaleducation, innovative education ideas and follow education principles. Secondly, the collegeshould build a team that graduate student tutors, counselors and teachers of specializedcourses joined together. Thirdly, the college should educate the graduate students pertinently,including Chinese dream education, professional ideal and life value education, education offundamental realities of our country, masses view education, hard work and plain livingeducation, ecology civilization education. Finally, the college should guide public opinionenvironment, build campus culture environment, set up service safeguard mechanism tooptimize graduate students’ ideological and political education environment.To summarize, the paper focused its attention on the graduate students of agriculture andforestry colleges, put forward the countermeasures of ideological and political education ofgraduate students of agriculture and forestry colleges, combining theory with practice,quantitative and qualitative analysis. At the same time, the paper innovated in theparticularities, development history, educational content and educational approach ofideological and political education of graduate students of agriculture and forestry colleges. Isincerely hope that this article can attract academe and educator attention to ideological andpolitical education of graduate students of agriculture and forestry colleges.
