Since geography as an independent science, the geography teaching of highschool has become a very important subject, which can help students form the thoughtof geographic space, geography experimental operation ability and the world outlookand values of the sustainable development. However, students feel it is difficult tolearn and have few effective recognition of the geographic concept in actual teaching,which make teachers feel geography is hard to teach, and especially the geographicconcept teaching has not been formed a complete guide theory. Therefore, it is apressing time to perfect the geography teaching and promote the development of thegeographic concept teaching more efficiently and reasonably.The new curriculum reform brings up the new concept of geography teaching,and offers a broad platform for teaching innovation. Concept map as a novel conceptand knowledge expression form is of very significant meaning in improvinggeography teaching and establishing relationships with the new old knowledge. And ithas become a focus in the circle of education for its powerful function.This article starts with the research background of concept map. Be based uponthe status quo of the current middle school geography teaching and learning, the targetof course reforms and analyzing the concept map actualities of our country andabroad the analysis, this paper has discussed the probability and necessity of theconcept map applied to the high school geography teaching, analyzed the applicationstrategy of concept map in high school geography teaching, so as to solve the problemin the high school geography teaching. At the same time, this paper has also analyzedthe advantages of concept map in the teaching process and the existing problems fromthe perspective of concept map’s meaning and its application situation. At lastcombining with the survey, the paper has discussed respectively the understanding ofconcept map and its usage between teachers and students, and put forward theapplication strategy of concept map in geography teaching, so as to further implementthe aim of the new curriculum reform and lay a foundation for the concept map teaching.
