Freshman is a special group in universities.From high school into university, they havejust escaped from the traditional exam-oriented education to professional education and fromfamily life to social life. Facing the new environment, new roles, new learning style and lifestyle, they suddenly involved in lots of maladjustment problems. Owing to the increasinglyprominent contradiction between freshmen’s adaptability and social development and how tohelp freshmen adapt to the new role and enjoy new life become a significant issue which notonly directly affects their all-round development but also relate to family harmonious andstable development of the society.At present,the solution for freshmen’s maladjustment problem based on various activitiesand fitness training by universities,but all these activities usually controlled bycounselors,teachers and the psychological counseling center, etc.On the contrary,studentsalways in a passive state which they never or have a little chance to solving their ownproblems on their own and lack of the motivation in learning and participating.Force-feedingeducation not only weaken the enthusiasm of student’s participation but also can’t meet theindividual needs,eventually leading to a bad outcome. Considering of all existing problems,this article is trying to find the reason causing freshmen’s maladjustment issue and seek aneffective way to solve freshmen’s adaptive problem, meanwhile, providing instruct on thetheory and practice which can effectively promote daily work in university.This paper uses the method including of the literature method, the participatoryobservation and interview to analyze some problems and reasons of freshmen’smaladjustment issue which consist of adapting to new living environment and learning tosolve new problems, also,include some interpersonal and psychological adaptation problems.However the reason causing many problems above is various and highly relate to earlyinappropriate family education,neglecting to cultivate student’s adaptive capacity in primaryand secondary schools,also include students their own factors such as not adapt to the newenvironment subjectively and the invention implemented by universities significantly lack ofpertinence and effectiveness. Using social work intervene in the adaptation of freshmenbecomes more and more popular.Because taking advantage of value,concept,method andtechnology of social work can cover the shortage of the existing intervention strategies to resolve freshmen’s maladjustment problems to some extent,it becomes a new way to solve theobvious adaptive problem of freshmen. At the same time, owing to many universities set upprofessional social work and cultivate a batch of professional social workers who can providecomprehensive and professional service in the universities, so promoting social work servicesin universities is necessary and feasible. This paper tries to use case study and group workmethod to solve the adaptive problem of freshmen in order to make up for the deficiency oftraditional interventional way and highlight the special role of social worker. In addition,adopting the process and satisfaction evaluation to assess the intervention effect to find outthe advantage and disadvantage in solving freshmen’s maladjustment problem and thenproviding theoretical support and practical guidance for universities to resolve freshmen’sadaptive problem.
