People with intellectual disabilities are the most vulnerable groups in the various types of disabilities, they are difficult to clearly express their wishes, will rely more on family members, relatives and friends. The mentally challenged children families facing significant pressure and confusion in the process of care and education.But in the context of unperfected social welfare and security policy related to intellectual disabilities children, few people will treat their family as the research object, which provide a vast space for this study.In this paper, combined with my own participation in the internship project,will review the four process from research to design to implementation to assess, and summarize experience and shortage. From the social support network theoretical perspectives, the article combines qualitative and quantitative research methods, relying on the Chongjin school in the Jading district, on the basis of needs assessment of100mentally retarded children families, and then focus depth interviews with40mentally challenged children families, by understanding the basis situation of children and their family face difficulties as well as the use of social resources to sort out their family’s social support network. On the basis to carry out professional social work services in order to better promote mental retardation children and family services.The author found that, family with retarded children needs rehabilitation, family education and employment. In the course of the project, carry out some activities mainly for parents emotional relieve, parent-child communication and community integration, at the same time, through the links to resources and information sharing, to meet the needs of rehabilitation and employment. In the promotion of the project, the author believes that, on the one hand, the government needs to perfect the special children’s education and employment policy and establish multiple mutual placement mode; on the other hand, we should pay attention to service object participation, enhance their self consciousness and ability.
