Due to the gap of economic development, urban and rural area is not balanced ineducation, thus rural elementary student’s extracurricular reading is not optimistic. Outof regard for rural elementary student’s reading literacy in my hometown, the authortake the rural area in Zao Yang of Hu Bei province for example to study theproblems existing in the rural primary school students’ reading and analyze the reasons,finally put forward some countermeasures and Suggestions.Full text is divided into five parts: chapter1is the introduction, mainly for theselected topic reason, the research significance of this study, related concepts, researchreview, research ideas and methods.Chapter2mainly introduces the relevant theories about reading. Combined with theselected topic object----the actual situation of rural area.The thesis takes ZengXiangqin’s reading environment theory andAdam Chambers’ reading cycle theory asthe basis to lay the theoretical foundation, and puts forward the guiding principle of theextracurricular reading.Chapter3is to introduce the current situation of extracurricular reading forelementary school students in rural area’s t three elementary school of Zao Yang. Theresults show that the area of the students’ reading situation is: lack of reading interest,reading time and quantity, lack of reading motivation and utilitarian tendency, readingcontent is relatively shallow, reading guide does not reach the designated position,reading resources is desperately shortage.Chapter4is based on the former results to analysis of the cause of the problem inprimary school students extracurricular reading from the school, family, society andstudents all perspectives. For School, one reason is a great shortage of the resourcesavailable for reading and there is no library in the school; Another reason is the school reading atmosphere is not strong and there is no specific lesson reading instruction,teachers’ guidance method is not enough. For family,the main reasons are the lowdegree of parents’ literacy and lack of reading guide; And parents are lack of theconsciousness to cultivate a child to read. For society, the main reasons are that there aremany migrant workers because of the backward economy;Community culture is badand the community library facilities is not complete so that reading resources is less.For students,mainly because they are lack of the subjective initiative andextracurricular reading consciousness is not strong.Chapter5is the countermeasure research. From school, family, society, studentsfour aspects, the author finds the feasibility suggestions aimed to improve the level ofrural primary school reading and cultivate their reading interest.
