Recent years, the economy growth of China is speeding up rapidly. The lifequality of citizens is growing itp, the material world is prosperity. However, peoplebegin to find that life was not going that expecting perfect and advanced. We continueto face to human indifference, money worship, spirit barren, polluted air, crisis ofconfidence, coveting material comforts and so on. In the aspect of education, peoplegradually start to do self-examination. The researchers recognize that professionaleducation can’t offer a student enough nutrient to develop as a “whole person",therefore the Whole Person Education advocators appeal to focus on the value of thestudents their own, develop the human potential, pay attention to self-dignity.Especially in Engineering College, it’s extremely iffgent to build the general educationcmriculum system under the core conduct of’Whole Person Education’.The paper has five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, mainlyintroduces the research background, significance, definition of related concepts andliterature review; the second chapter reviews the education thoughts and theoriesrelated to the curriculum s>?tem of general education, mainly introduces the WholePerson Thoughts and Equilibrium Theory; the third chapter, through the investigationof the Beijing Institute of Technology and the other4engineering colleges, analyzesthe cmrent situation and practice of the general education in Engineering Colleges,the existing problems and its reasons; the fourth chapter chooses3representativeengineering colleges both at home and abroad, introduces their general educationcmriculum practice and get some enlightenment from it; the fitfh chapter, is the corepart of this paper, in combination with theoretical appeal, fundamental analysis aswell as excellent ejqjerience, to put forward some ideas to build om*countryengineering college general education cmriculum s>?tem. This paper proposes thebasic qualities required for "whole person" through the study, and the design ofgeneral education curriculum s>?tem based on the goal of the "whole person".
