This paper tries to study the core strength training for each of 8 short track speed skating athletes of PLA and Qingdao team by questionnaire survey, expert interviews and experiment. The experimental group carries out core strength training and traditional routine training; the control group carries out traditional routine training,12 weeks of physical training period.. Before and after of training, it is application of special strength test for special ability test of athletes in two groups through legs jump bar, single-foot support, pressure swing leg, single toggle hold control over an abdomen, half circle running,500 meters and so on. At the same time, it tests muscle strength of the joints of shoulder, trunk, hip, knee by IsoMed2000 isokinetic testing system.Result:Before experiment, it has no significant difference between the specific quality, trunk and hip joint muscle strength of the experimental group and control group (P>0.05). After 12 weeks of core strength training, special strength of atheletes obviously increase in the experimental group (P<0.05), the control group has no significant difference. The strength of joint of the trunk and hip strength has improved obviously in the experimental group, on both sides of the joint force change; the control group has no significantly.Conclusion:The special quality and the trunk and hip joints strength of short track speed skaters are better through the core strength training, the traditional training method is not obvious, the core strength training is suitable for short track speed skating. Core strength training can improve each joint muscle strength of the core region of short track speed skating athletes (trunk, hips, etc), and it is advantageous to the development of the right lower limb strength and physical coordination, balance, stability, straight acceleration and balance of curve. Core strength training is a very good training method that is suitable for short track speed skating, and it should increase of training methods the core region. It is promotion in the snow and ice project.
