In recent years,the issue of bullying children has appeared in many reports, some of which have aroused close social attention. The frequent bullying among children brings many negative impacts on the physical and mental development of those children. Many discussions and studies of this issue have been done from various fields.This thesis is about the social intervention on children’s bullying and focuses on the verbal bullying among children. There are numerous reasons why the thesis focuses on the verbal bullying among children. First, verbal bullying is the most common behavior among the bullying among children. Second, it is often neglected as it is a kind of soft violence. Third, the effect of social intervention is obvious because the verbal bullying among children is relatively low severity.In addition, the thesis is a practical research specific to individual child and based on the professional methods of social work. The intervention on children’s bullying is used to redress their incorrect understanding and improve their communication skills. Besides, this thesis is based on the children service project in Nanjing X community. During the project, as verbal bullying among the children occurred frequently, those children were chosen as research subjects. The intervention on children in Nanjing X community is carried out based on the social learning theory and in the form of group work as main interventions and case work as an auxiliary.Many social learning theories were adopted during the design of group work, such as instance model, role playing, situation simulation, and so on. The bullying among children was involved from two aspects of cognitive and skills. Meanwhile, encouraging and praising were employed in the group work to motivate group members and improve the effectiveness of the group work through strengthening the change of group members’ behavior timely. In addition, group member labeled as number two was chosen as a special intervention individual. Obvious improvement could be observed in terms of the verbal bullying and communication skills through five interviews of the group member two. In order to assess the effects of the activities, a combination of questionnaire survey and observational survey was adopted to evaluate from two aspects of activities setting up and serving clients’ change.This thesis attempts to interpose the bullying among children from the social work field based on the research of social intervention on children’s bullying. It also tries to explore and think professionally apart from adopting social work theories into practice, in order to provide some feasible references for the localization of social work theories. This thesis is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction, which describes the research reason, the research objects, the research significance,the research plan of this thesis generally and declares the innovation of this study.The second part is the literature review, which sorts out the previous studies on the invention of the bullying among children and sum up.The third part analyzes the verbal bullying among children. Combined with previous research and based on the observe and record of the author’s summer expertise, this part analyzes the cause and the harm of the verbal bullying among children and explains the feasibility of the social work intervention.The fourth part analyzes the process of the social work invention. The invention plan is explained closely, followed by the analysis of the invention through social work group and individual.The fifth part evaluates the effect of the social work invention. The evaluation is based on activities setting up and serving clients’ change.The sixth part is the summarization and discussion, which includes the finding and the deficiency of the research. The author’s reflection on social work development is also described in this part.
