School bullying is a worldwide ubiquitous phenomenon. Its hazard draws attention of many fields in society. Those who are bullied not only may have somatic injuries and mental illnesses, but more significantly, they will run away from school and then become a family burden;on the contrary, people who bully may also have socialized obstacles for their own attack tendency, and then they will gradually return to a life of crime, which will become a hidden danger for the social security.Although the related domain experts in China have made outstanding contributions to prevent and resolve the campus bullying, there is still lack of systematic theoretical support and integrated intervention thoughts.Empathy ability,as an intrinsic psychological index to prevent and control school bullying, which can be improved by the technical means of reading treatment.Social work is a comprehensive application subject under a new situation, its professional ethical values and methods have a great advantage and a good effects in intervening in school bullying. This study adopts quasi-experimental design to carry out social work in natural class situations, and focuses on the improvement of class systems and personal systems and their mutual influence in order to reduce school bullying in primary schools.During the internship at Y Elementary School, the author selected the experimental and matched classes, bullies and victims by making a school bullying baseline survey in the fifth-grade primary school students. At the same time, under the guidance of ecosystem theory, social learning theory and social role theory, and in combination with the characteristics of the physical and mental development of primary school students, the author applied the core technology of bibliotherapy to carry out the group work for empathy training to all members of the experimental class, and then, made 3-4 times face-to-face case work with the bullies of the class, while do not do any experimental processing in the matched classes. Finally,it is not only use the quantitative and qualitative methods to measure the difference between the experimental class and the matched class on each scale, but also use the participatory observation and interview to assess the improvement of school bullying,so as to test the social work intervention effect. The study found that the results of the post-test and follow-up evaluation in the experimental class were significantly different from the previous test, especially the improvement of empathy ability, while the matched classes have no obvious change, and also the results of the post-test and follow-up evaluation were lower than the experimental class. Therefore,it can be concluded that using reading therapy to carry out empathy training is not only can improve the empathy ability of primary school students, but also can effectively reduce the incidence rate of school bullying.Although the intervention achieved good results, the generality and popularization were not strong,Hereby the author makes a profound reflection and proposes the suggestions to control school bullying.
