Language textbooks have gone through revolutionary change since 2000, with a variety of different experimental textbooks published, and there are 12 sets of language textbooks of primary school nationwide. However, at present there are some non-standard phenomena in the textbooks, which are producing negative impact on the students’ language application ability. It still needs analysis and theoretical research to ensure the scientificity and normalization of textbook writing. Chinese characters learning is the foundation of language learning, which is especially important in elementary school learning. Language textbook is the main basis of Chinese characters teaching and learning in primary school, so it is necessary and important to study the non-standard phenomena of Chinese characters in language textbooks of primary school. Based on the previous study, this paper studies and discusses the writing specification of 12 sets of current using language textbooks of primary school from aspects of strokes, names of sides and indexing components and Character List.For aspect of strokes, this paper attempts to carry on statistics and comparative analysis of the strokes of Chinese characters in 12 sets of language textbooks of primary school that are in use nationwide at present from the following three aspects:the number, names and types of the strokes, the exemplary characters showing the strokes and the learning order of the strokes, and then point out the non-standard phenomena of the writing of the strokes in the textbooks, and finally make some suggestions according to the relevant regulatory documents and Chinese character theories in order to provide certain reference to the writing of Chinese characters learning in the language textbooks for the future.For aspect of names of sides and indexing components, we mainly investigate the names of sides and indexing components in four sets of language textbooks of primary school and the teachers’ teaching book, and find there is a great deal of inconsistence in the names of sides and indexing components in the teaching material. In summary, the main problems are:the concept of x+zi+buweici‘x+字+部位词’,the selection of buweici‘部位词’,the selection of the representative zi‘字’of buwei‘部位’,the number of the names’ syllables, the problem of vulgo names, the naming of benzi+buweici‘本字+部位词’and other problems. Based on the knowledge of Chinese character theories and referring to the names of sides and indexing components in Modern Chinese Dictionary, Modern Chinese Standard Dictionary and New Pupil Dictionary, as well as the component names in Specification of Common Modern Chinese Character Components and Component Names, this paper probes into these problems respectively, and puts forward some suggestions to the reasonable naming of sides and indexing components.For aspect of Character List, in order to study how the textbooks arrange character teaching and learning, the difference among character, the quantity of character and the leaning order of character and whether they have met the requirement of Language Curriculum Standards and whether there is need to improve, this paper analyzes the Character List of 12 sets of language textbooks of primary school, including the character, the quantity of characters and the learning order of character of each hulrenzi‘会认字’list and huixiezi‘会写字’list and the contrast of them among different textbooks, it also includes the contrast between Character List and two lists from Compulsory Education Language Curriculum Standards (2011 edition), examining the learning and arrangements of characters of current language textbooks of primary school in a larger scope. By using the method of ACCESS database, this paper finds some non-standard phenomena in learning and arrangements of characters and then puts forward some corresponding suggestions.By analyzing the selected aspects of strokes, names of sides and indexing components and Character List, this paper finds there are great differences in Chinese character writing among each language textbooks of primary school and some non-standard phenomena. By analyzing and discussing these problems and putting forward some suggestions, this paper aims to further standardize the writing of language textbooks of primary school and promote the teaching and learning of Chinese characters of primary school.
