The Study Of Specification And Teaching Of The Undecomposable Characters

In 2009,Chinese Education Department and the State Language Commission issued jointly an important document named “Specification of the Undecomposable Characters Commonly Used in the Modern Chinese “(GF0013-2009).It stipulated a list of 256 Undecomposable Characters,which expressed that the specification applied to functional literacy and dictionaries compilation. Actually, it often used in the field of characters-teaching in elementary school.However, this character list is controversial in academia. Meanwhile,the same department published another document named“Specification of Common Modern Chinese Character Components and Components Names”(GF0014-2009),which gave a list of 311 Common Primitive Components of Independent Character Formation through analyzing 3500 common modern Chinese characters. The relationship between the Undecomposable Characters and the Common Primitive Components of Independent Character Formation is parallel.But this two lists have 57 different characters under the same definition and similar application fields.Different linguists have different viewpoints on the defining and collecting standard of the Undecomposable Characters.Aiming at character-teaching in elementary school,how to analyse and confirm the Undecomposable Characters,how to formulate a reasonable specification according to childrens’ cognitive psychology,how to teach the Undecomposable Characters on the basis of the Undecomposable Characters theory,which had become three most important problems needed to be solved in this paper.This paper studied on the specification and teaching of the Undecomposable Characters.First,we compared and analysed two specification,got the idea into their contradiction and reasons.Then,we collected characters from level 1 of “General Standard Chinese Characters Table”released in 2013. Under the guidance of the theory of Chinese characters’ configuration system,this paper analyzed the Undecomposable Characters in 3500 commonly used modern Chinese characters, counted the distribution and formation in new curriculum standard Chinese textbook by PEP from Grade 1 to Grade 6, provided the reference for the primary characters’ teaching.
