Since the reform and opening up, great progress has been made in the reform and development of higher education in Shaanxi Province, thus promoting the economic, social and technological development, making outstanding contributions in improving the scientific and cultural level of people in Shaanxi Province. By chasing its root, experts entirely attribute the success to faculty construction and development in provincial universities. In the context of internationalization of higher education, faculty internationalization for universities in Shaanxi Province has become an inevitable trend. Thus it is both the basic condition and important guarantee for provincial colleges and universities to develop a dynamic teaching staff with noble morality, comprehensive professional skills and reasonable structure so as to achieve the internationalization of education and enhance the competitiveness of education, which is also the only way to future development for provincial universities.Provincial colleges and universities as the research objects, this paper mainly adopts historical approach, literature research, survey study, comparative study, case analysis and other methods to study the current situation, as well as problems and possible reasons of faculty internationalization in provincial universities in China. Combined with empirical study, this paper intensively analyzes the faculty internationalization of provincial universities in Shaanxi, including the achievements, problems and constraints, etc. In addition, taking the advanced experience ofhigh-level universities as an example, this study proposes reasonable strategies of faculty internationalization for provincial universities under the current background, with a hope that it can make some significance for the future development of faculty internationalization in our country.Generally, this paper is divided into six parts. The first part, introduction, describes the theoretical basis of the thesis, the research content, the research ideas and methods. The second part, literature review, defines some core concepts such as internationalization of higher education, internationalization of universities and faculty internationalization, and introduces the current research scope and focus in home and abroad. In the third part, the author discusses about the achievements and development trend of faculty internationalization in high-level universities while in the fourth part, the author further explores the current situation of faculty internationalization in provincial universities in China, including achievements, problems and constraints, etc. The fifth part, empirical research of the provincial universities in Shaanxi Province, analyzes the situation and challenges provincial universities face on the way to faculty internationalization. The last part, strategy of faculty internationalization for provincial universities, puts forward feasible strategy conducive to accelerating faculty development for provincial universities. All in all, the author hopes that more innovative ideas will be created and greater results will be achieved after this research.
