Mother tongue textbook is not only an intermediary and content of mother tongue education, but also is an important carrier of culture. To teaching language, delivering culture and nourishing life, the process of compiling textbooks and selecting articles becomes a hot spot. Facing on the wave of globalization, I focus on American mother tongue textbooks. This paper chooses Treasures which published by Macmillan, the division of Mc Graw-Hill Publishing Company, for the study sample and make a comparative study of Compulsory Education Curriculum Standards Experimental Textbook ? Chinese(hereinafter abbreviated as Chinese by PEP). I hope that this “moonlight” from U.S.A. could lighten our improved work in mother tongue textbooks.Passing by compare of two countries’ standards, the study analyses the arrangement system of Chinese by PEP and Treasures which focus on its presentation 、range of selection and theme of selection. Based on the analysis, the paper gives advice on value orientation of arrangement、presentation and arrangement system.
