The Operating Mode Of Swedish Study Circle And Its Implications For Chinese Community Study Circle

Study circle is a kind of relatively free non-formal adult education forms which is launch for adults. It can not only meet the adult learning interest, can also work well to guide their life and work. For century’s development, Swedish study circle’s perfect operating mode and rich experience can provide useful guidance for our community study circle. By analyzing the Swedish study circle’s connotation, development process and operating mode systematically, this thesis summarized its characteristics and experience. Meanwhile, this thesis took zhonglou community study circle as an example, by comparing with Swedish study circle, to discuss Chinese community study circle’s current situation and existing problems, and proposed several meaningful solutions for Chinese community study circle’s construction. This research shall make up the weakness of Chinese community study circle research; enrich the theory of Chinese community education and adult non-formal education. It also shall promote the construction of Chinese community study circle. In short, there’s very positive meaning to make this research for theoretical or practical level.This thesis consisted of 6 parts:The first part is about the introduction of this thesis. It discussed the background of subject selection, research content, research purpose, research significance, literature review, research methods and so on.The second part summarized the connotation and basic types of Swedish study circle.The third part introduced the main reasons of Swedish study circle’s generation, including the social needs of humanity, the affection of democratic tradition and the promotion of economic development. Meanwhile, it discussed the history of Swedish study circle which includes the start-up period, the boom period and the improving period.The forth part mainly analyzed the operating mode of Swedish study circle. The operating mode of Swedish study circle is composed by the following eight aspects. Firstly, the operating philosophy of Swedish study circle is democracy, equality, the interests of people and lifelong education. Secondly, it’s about the Swedish study circle’s participants, mentors and organization staffs: broad participation, equal relationship and performing their functions satisfactorily. Thirdly, study circle library is the main source of learning materials. Fourthly, the operation of Swedish study circle is flexible and standardized. Fifthly, it’s about the relevant laws and regulations: sound and distinct. Sixthly, it’s about the main sources of funding: state, local and other subsidies. Seventhly, it discussed the organization and management of Swedish study circle: sound institutions, rational 3administration, complete and independent manipulation. Eighth, Swedish study circle’s assessments of the quality: self-evaluation and the quality assurance. Finally, it summarized Swedish study circle’s features, experience and influence.The fifth part talked about the status quo and embarrassments of Chinese community study circle. First of all, it introduced the generation reason and developing situation of Chinese community study circle. Then it took Zhonglou community circle as an example to summarize the operating mode, features, experience and influence of Chinese community study circle from the following aspects: the operating philosophy of Zhonglou community study circle; the participants and community education team; learning resources; operation; institutional system; subsides; the situation of organizing and managing; quality evaluation of Chinese community study circle. Finally, on the base of comparison between Swedish study circle and Chinese community study circle, it discussed the existing problems about Chinese community study circle.The last part summarized Swedish study circle’s enlightenments for Chinese community study circle. It introduced the countermeasures about how to improve Chinese community study circle from the perspectives of spiritual philosophy, personal relations, learning resources, operating mode, laws and regulations, learning funding, organization and management, quality evaluation and strengthening the influence.
