Research On The Relation Between Self Time Management And Parenting Styles Of City Junior Middle School Students

This subject is a research on time management disposition and parenting styles of 367 students of two city junior middle schools in one district named chenghua of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, which refers to Adolescent Time Management Disposition Scale(ATMD), compiled by Huang Xiting and Zhang Zhijie, and Parenting Style Questionnaire,(EMBU) revised by Yue Dongmei and others. The results are as follows:Firstly, The overall situation of city junior middle school students ’ time management disposition is in the mid to upper state.Gender differences, examining from the overall situation and various dimensions of status,are not so obvious in the aspect of city junior middle school students’ time management disposition.On all dimensions, from the overall situation, there are significant grade differences on time management disposition; On the different dimensions, there are some degree of difference among Grade one,Grade two,and Grade three.Secondly, within the conventional mode, there are obvious gender differences in parenting styles taken by city junior middle school students’ parents. And based on various dimensions, usually, boys score higher.Examining from the grade difference, generally, students of Grade two will get more love from parents, students of Grade three will get more punishments, while students of Grade one will get more interference protection.The differences among parenting styles of city junior middle school students’ parents are not so obvious.Examined from the general situation, There is obvious correlation between self time management disposition and parenting style of city junior middle school students. There is a significant positive correlation between time management disposition and emotional warmth, over-protection of father’s parenting styles. However, There is a obvious negative correlation between time management disposition and mothers’ refuse and deny of parenting styles. Therefore, in the parenting styles, fathers’ emotional warmth and over-protection can have a Positive prediction on the disposition of city junior middle school students’ time management, while mothers’ refuse and deny may have a reverse prediction on it.
