The Investigative Study On Prensent Professional Quality Of Kindergarten Heads

There are some professional requirements including basic principles and basic content for kindergarten heads, according to the exposure draft of “Professional Standards for Kindergarten Heads” from the Ministry of Education in 2014.The kindergarten head plays the role of the educator, administrator and leader, so his professional qualities are of vital importance in the development of the kindergarten, teachers and children. This study aims at understanding the basic situation thus exploring the influential factors and countermeasures of the professional qualities of kindergarten heads in Hunan province.On the basis of summarizing previous studies concerned, this study formulates “The Questionnaire on Status Quo of Professional Qualities of Kindergarten Heads” and the corresponding “Interview Outline”. The study covers 467 kindergarten heads in 14 cities in Hunan province, explores the status quo of their professional qualities using questionnaires and interviews, and understanding the status quo and influential factors by analyzing data through SPSS.20.0 to finish the descriptive and inferential statistics.The results show that kindergarten heads’ professional qualities in Hunan province have reached good level while their professional knowledge should be improved. The development of kindergarten heads’ professional qualities vary in urban and rural areas, as well as in the type of kindergartens.This study puts forward countermeasures to improving the professional qualities of kindergarten heads: to improve the kindergarten head-managing system,to build kindergarten heads’ professional organizations,to strengthen kindergarten heads’ professional training,to increase capital investment and decrease urban-rural gap, to create good environment to promote professional qualities of heads from private kindergartens, and to constantly promote professional qualities themselves.
