With the development of times,the progress of Human civilization and the rapid changes of Science and Technology,education is also in constant change.Teachers need to keep learning,investing in educational research and promoting their professional improvement so as to adapt to these changes. The front-line teachers have a wealth of practical experience,but they tend to neglect the systematic education theory. As a result,the gap between education theory and education practice seriously obstructs the development of theory and the promotion of practice.The teaching case is the link of education practice and theory. The case study is based on the study of practice and guided by the theory of standard. It is a good way to combine practice with theory, to promote teachers’ professional growth.This research is based on the classroom teaching about the chapter "change of state" in junior middle school. Based on a critical review of literatures with a combination of physics teaching, I apply the case study method to the study of physics teaching. This thesis is divided into three parts.The first part includes the first two chapters. The first chapter presents the background, the content, the methods and the values of case study.The second chapter introduces the theoretical basis of this thesis : Cognitive Theory of Constructivism is the epistemological foundations of designing and researching the teaching case; Zone of Proximal Development Theory and the theory of Multiple Intelligences are guiding criteria of the analysis and evaluation of the teaching case.The third chapter belongs to the second part. In this part I have modified the case study to make it suitable for researching the physical teaching. Besides,this part describes the construction, writing, research, analytical and evaluation methods of the teaching case.The third part contains the fourth, fifth and sixth chapters. This part elaborates the practice of the application of teaching. The fourth chapter is the experiential learning study of physics teaching. I choose the“Gasification and Liquefaction” as a research topic, comparatively studying the experience to absorb their experience, and then applying the experience to my teaching process, finally writing down my teaching process into the case and making a detailed study.The fifth chapter is about the theoretical constructing study in physics teaching. One is based on “Gasification and Liquefaction”to construct logical reasoning model and the other is based on a demonstrative experiment of“Change of State”to analyze the doubts and problems existing in demonstrative experiment.The sixth chapter is the conclusion which describes the shortcoming and the future prospects of this thesis research.
