Literacy teaching for junior students of primary school is the emphasis and also the difficulty.The new revision of the "Chinese course standard" requires that students in the stage of compulsory education should know about 3500 commonly-used Chinese characters, and correctly, neatly write down Chinese characters in certain speed. And the more specific requirement in the first period of reading and writing is to read about 1600 to 1800 Chinese characters, of which 800 to 1000 or so can be written. According to the survey, about 78% of junior students of primary school learn about 1800 Chinese characters, and they can basically read children’s books on their own in a pleasant mood. About 13% can read about 1600 Chinese characters, and these students have some difficulties in reading children’s books. There are nearly 9% of the students who do not reach the minimum requirements for the new Chinese course standard, and they can not read independently. That is to say, for some 7-8 years old kids, to know 1800 words in two-year-time is quite difficult, and also a big challenge for teaching. In order to improve the efficiency of literacy teaching, the education and academic circles have been committed to developing more effective methods. They create and invent more than 30 kinds of phonetic literacy teaching methods such as centralized literacy, decentralized literacy, phonetic literacy.In the existing teaching methods, teachers can choose any methods or any combination according to their own advantages and demands of the students. But due to various reasons, in the teaching process, some methods which mean to improve the teaching efficiency can not arouse students’ interest in learning, or cultivate students’ literacy skills, but on the contrary, students grow tired of learning new words because of inappropriate teaching methods such as mechanical memorizing. In the new teaching requirements of the new curriculum reform, literacy teaching should follow the lead of students’ physical and mental development, and at the same time, literacy teaching can take advantage of the rational basis of Chinese characters. In this context, this paper focuses on independent learning, synchronous reading / writing, and makes an in-depth investigation on the autonomous words Learning of junior students in Gao Tanyan primary school, Sha Pingba, Chongqing, when they introduce the experiment of independent learning, synchronous reading / writing as literacy teaching reform. This investigation and research is to put forward effective solutions to help teachers and students improve the efficiency of autonomous literacy teaching, making the processing of learning words more simple, pleasant and effective.
