As the highest level of education,the postgraduate education whose quality has been concerned for a long time holds an important position in cultivating innovative talents.In the cultivation process of postgraduate students, tutor’s instruction is especially important except students’personal factors.For this reason, if we have a deeper understanding of how does the tutor’s instruction influence on students on their academic performance, it will help us improve tutors’instruction and promote postgraduate’competence.The previous studies have proved that tutors’instruction has an positive impacts on postgraduates’academic behavior. For example,the time, frequency and level of tutors’instruction will influence students’research ability and innovation capability positively. Based on the previous studies, this thesis researches the relation between tutors’ guide and students’ academic performance deeply, including the degree of correlation as well as the ways that the tutor guidance impact students’ academic performance.An questionnaire is designed on tutors’instruction and students’academic performance, which is include five dimension of tutors’ instruction and two levels of students’academic performance.Through the empirical study I have found that most of the postgraduates are satisfied with their tutors’instruction. However, Tutors’instruction is mainly in single tutor system and its frequency is different in different subjects;In the aspect of academic performance, postgraduates have fewer academic efforts and less academic publications in which excellent academic works are rare.In the five dimensions of tutors’instructions, instruction frequency and instruction content have the highest connection with students’academic performance. Tutors’instruction method, instruction contents and the established way of relationship have significant connection with postgraduates’ academic output. Tutors’ title has no relevant with their instruction method,instruction frequency and instruction content. It is also has nothing to do with postgraduates’ academic performance. Postgraduates’ assessment towards tutor has connection with tutors’ instruction method, instruction frequency, instruction content and the established way of relationship but has no relevance to tutors’ title. The postgraduates taking part in tutors’ research has significant connection with their academic performance. The students who have participated in tutors’ research have better academic performance than those who have never participated in tutors’ research.The aim of the thesis is to analyze the possible cause of research results, discuss the relative factors and put forward some advice to promote graduate students’ academic performance such as improving the relationship between tutors and students, changing the tutors’ guide and establishing reward system to encourage the tutors who have excellent tutor performance.The thesis helps to enrich the studies on tutors’ guide and graduate students’ academic performance, finds the regularity and improves the quality of graduate education.
