Gnosis pursuit and value pursuit are the two basic pursuits unified in pedagogy. Pedagogy is an independent discipline built on the solid basis of science and targeted to education problems and education phenomena. Owing to the uniqueness of its research objects, namely education problems and education phenomena are featured with unity of fact and value, pedagogy contains gnosis pursuit and value pursuit since it appeared for the first time. However educational theorists just tacitly approve both pursuits of pedagogy, and systematical discussion on the unity of gnosis pursuit and value pursuit are seldom found in the past researches. This research belongs to meta-pedagogy, which has a certain theoretical significance for the development and perfection of pedagogy itself. Based on the thinking way of logic, using Literature Method and Theoretical Analysis Method, the following four problems are analyzed and explored in turn:"Why pedagogy contains gnosis pursuit and value pursuit?" "What do gnosis pursuit and value pursuit mean?" "How to unify gnosis pursuit and value pursuit in pedagogy?" and "What is pedagogy with both gnosis pursuit and value pursuit?" By analysis, the pursuit of pedagogy is actually the pursuit of educationalists. It is both realistic and reasonable that pedagogy contains both gnosis pursuit and value pursuit. In a word, gnosis pursuit of pedagogy is the course to seek truth from the existing education knowledge by means of scientific research methods. Value pursuit of pedagogy is in essence that the subject-educational practitioners and educational knower seek value from the object-practical activities of education by taking educational goal as the value goal. Unity of gnosis pursuit and value pursuit is realized and manifested in realist educational activities, and also the reasonable construction based on the essence of pedagogy which is unity of reasonability and intentionality. To unify gnosis pursuit and value pursuit in pedagogy, it is essential to stick to unity of scientific spirit & humanistic spirit and unity of scientific norms & humanistic norms in pedagogy. Based on historical common fundamental values, realization of the three values as "seeking truth" "being goodness" "reaching beauty" is the highest value pursuit of the ideal education bourn for human being, then pedagogy acquiring value pursuit should unify "the true, the good and the beautiful" harmoniously in educational activities.
