The era calls for creative talents. The mission of education is to cultivate talents who should meet the times demand. In the 1960’s, the British Tony Buzan invented a fast learning and thinking tools- mind map. Mind mapping has the characteristics of reflective thinking, visualization etc. It has developed the strength and potential of the brain, showing great advantages in taking notes, review, plan and making decision, making the world more than 250 million people benefit. This article discusses the mind map in a rational level, from the brain science, multiple intelligence theory and learning theory, hoping to find a more scientific theoretical basis.The graphic conversion test is always an indispensable part of college entrance examination in geography. It embodies the characteristics of geographical discipline "no map no test”. The article respectively explains the graphic conversion’s meaning, type, etc., and analyses the reason and the advantages why using mind map to solve the graphic conversion tests.It creates a new combination of the two, putting forward the procedure and way to solve the high school geographic graphic conversion test by using mind map.The article, taking the solve of senior high school geography graphic conversion test as a carrier,aims at the application research of mind map in the teaching of geography. It goes on through the experiment. First of all is to tell the knowledge of mind map to all students and teach them how to draw it; then introduce it into the geographic class. Teach them how to organize and summarize knowledge and create system to achieve the purpose of improving the efficiency of the review. In test-revising class, focusing on guiding students to find the right way of solving the problem, accessing to effective information, and clarifying the answer etc. The article analyses the effectiveness by test result analysis, questionnaire survey and individual interview, proving mind map has its value in solving high school geographic graphic conversion test. Finally, the article makes the conclusion blow:1. The combination of mind map and graphic conversion is feasible.2. Put forward the method and application of mind map in problem solving.3. A mind map helps to improve the students’ grades.4. A mind map helps students to establish knowledge system.5. A mind map can motivate student’s meaningful learning.
