How outstanding are the faculty members in a university can be attributed to the greatness of the university. Therefore, how successful of the university to recruit and maintain a fabulous team of great teachers is so pivotal for the university to be promising, healthy and sustainable. In this regard, excellent teacher management is one of the key factors to keep the university in great shape and in the path to be more successful.The university of Pittsburgh is one of the most prestigious public research universities in America. It grew from a small college more than 100 years ago to a comprehensive university up to now. There must be so many precious lessons to be learnt in years of its progression. The current research will focus on dissecting and analyzing the teacher management system of the university of Pittsburgh so as to pinpoint what might be valuable for universities in China.This paper bases upon the study of faculty handbook and related references posted on its official website about the rules and regulations of the University of Pittsburgh regarding teacher’s management. In order to summarize the pros and cons of the system and find out aspects from which we can model in our education system, the study tries to encompass the organization, the management mission, teacher recruitment system, teacher’s salary and welfare system and academic policies of the university of Pittsburgh to fully characterize the system. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, this paper comprises 5 sections: 1) A brief description about the university of Pittsburgh, its administration setups and its mission in education system; 2) Introduction of how the university recruits best teachers possible and maintains the stable teachers force by providing teachers the best benefit available; 3) Analysis of its academic management, including academic integrity rules and regulations and the ways to execute those; 4) Dissection of the procedures and standards for attracting best teachers to the university and 5) Suggestions and for the reform and perfection of teachers management system in China based on the lessons learnt from the teachers’ management system of the university of Pittsburgh.The purposes of the paper is to, on the basis of comprehensive analysis of teachers’ management system of the university of Pittsburgh, come up with inspirational ideas that can be adapted by universities in China. It is the author’s sincere hope that this paper will provide some practical references for the reform and perfection of the teachers’ management system in our country.
