Since the enrollment expansion in 1999,more and more students get access to universities through the college entrance examination. Today, with the popularization of university education, the focused point is not on wether one can enter a university, but on the type and level of the chosen university, and what kind of profession they major in,something like that. But the reality is that among many colleges in our country, there are still a considerable number of students who are limited by scores of the college entrance examination and can not choose their interested professions.Besides, owing to China’s current training system’s limitation and universitys’ teaching resource constraints, most of the students in the four-year university learning have no opportunities to change their professions. Therefore, some college students are neither satisfied with nor identify with what they major in,which has a great influence on both student’s professional learning and their growth.Professional identity has a strong effect on college students’ learning psychology,as well as the development of their professional skills. What’s more,it also plays a role in the development of the future career of the students. The purpose of this study is to take Huazhong Agricultural University as a sample, investigating major transfers about how much they identify with their professions, the characteristics of development, what relates to the self career decision making efficacy,as well as the difference between profession identity and self career decision making efficacy under different modes of profession chosing. Based on that, we will do some further exploration on how to increase major transfers’ profession identity.By the use of asking questions, literature study, interviews and questionnaire surveys, combined with our own research ideas,we developed the "College Students’ professional identity questionnaire", together with " College Students’ self career decision making efficacy questionnaire" and investigated 1313 students in Huazhong Agricultural University. We analysed the characteristics on which major transfers agree on and their differences in demographic variables. Besides,we discuss about the relationship between their profession identities and self career decision making efficacy,as well as the difference between profession identity and self career decision making efficacy under different modes of profession chosing.Based on that,we draw the conclusions.(1) The questionnaire of the survey we made is divided into four dimensions: cognitiveness, emotion, behavior and evaluation The questionnaire owns good reliability and validity, thus measurement can be carried out effectively on students’ professional identity.(2) Major transfers’ total scores of professional identity and scores of cognitiveness, emotion, behavior are slightly higher than the critical value, while the evaluation scores are slightly below the critical value, which suggests that the professional identity of major transfers is in the middle level, and the matching degree of their professions is relatively low.(3) The professional identity of major transfers is interefered by both gender and grade. According to the total score of profession identity and its four dimensions, there is no significant difference in professional identity of boys in different grades, while girls in different grades vary significantly. Refering to emotion and evaluation, the second grade students are obviously higher than the fourth grade students.(4) The interaction of gender and types of profession on the profession identity of major transfers is only obvious among the boys,as the identity of science and technology is significantly higher than that of agriculture and forestry.Refering to female students, both the total scores of identity and four influencing factors vary significantly. In general, girls’ professional identities of agriculture and forestry are relatively low. For major transfers in the agriculture and foresty, the identity of profession of boys are obviously higher than that of girls. In science and technology majors, girls are higher than boys in total scores and emotional factors, while on evalation factors things are opposite.(5) The profession identity of major transfers varies in grades and types of profession has significant difference in grade and major types. For the first grade of major transfers, all of professional identity scores, cognitive and emotional scores vary significantly,as in science, economics and management,it is significantly higher than that of agriculture and forestry; as second grade major transfers, engineering is significantly higher than that of agriculture and forestry refering to cognitive factor. For major transfers in agriculture and forestry,in the professional identity scores,3rd grade is higer than that of 4th grade; As major transfers in Social Sciences 2nd grade is higher than that of 4th grade in emotional and evaluative factor. As major transfers in science,t,1st grade is higher than that of 4th grade. As major transfers in engeneering, 1st grade is higher than that of 2nd grade in affective and evaluative factor.(6) The total scores and those four factors of the professional identity of major transfers varies significantly in the following circumstances: original places of students, the obtainnig of double degree or not, professional employment prospects, the condition of professional learning and professional learning achievement. Such things of big cities’ major transfers are significantly higher than that of rural students. The profession identity of major transfers in Central South area of China is relatively high, while that of Northwest area is in the lowest degree.Students who own a double degree are much more likely to be satisfied with their profession than who has not…The similar situation also occurs in the following circumstances:the popularity of the employment prospect of your profession, the condition of your professional study and your grades.(7) The self career decision making efficacy of major transfers is relatively low. It is in the midlevel,as the whole five dimentions of self career decision making efficacy is below 3.5—just beyond the critical value 3.(8) Self career decision making efficacy of major transfers varies significantly owing to the original places of students and families’ monthful incomes.Major transfers from provincipal cities and rural areas are much more likely to gain that efficacy than those from small cities. And the self career decision making efficacy is relatedly high among major transfers with high families’ incomes.(9) The total scores of profession identity together with its four factors,as well as the total scores of self career decision making efficacy and its five factors vary a lot on the modes students use to choose their professions. In this point, students who change their professions by their own wishes are higher than those who are admitted to the university with the professions they have chosen, and significantly than profession transfers.(10) There is a positive correlation between College Students’ professional identity and self career decision making efficacy. The relationship is weak among profession transfers, while there exists a positive correlation among profession transfers.
