Application Research Of Case Management In Family Services For The Disabled

We China are the country with the largest number of the disabled. And many of the disabled families are faced with the problems from economic, politic, laws, policies, employment, family structure and family communication. Currently, the phenomenon the disabled families being prejudiced is still existing in the disabled assistance career. Then, there have been many trial in many places of our country with the introduction of the methods of social work. However, rarely researches touch the disabled and their families in a comprehensive aspect, while most of them focus on the recovery. Case management is a professional method of social work to provide social welfare services assistance, which bases on the links and integration of resources to assist the service targets with multiple requirements, assisting them change in many aspect, enhancing their potentials and constructing the social web. For the time being,many domestic researchers try to regard case management as a professional method of social work, applying it in the post-disaster services, community correction, drug control and other fields. Therefore, based on the Suzhou research project“the disabled family support plan”,this paper try to do the application research of introduce the case management to the disabled family service.First of all, the author analyses the multiple potentials of the disabled and their families in Suzhou city, based on the data from the participated semi-structured interview; secondly, the author take a case in the project as an example, and adopt the case management of general intervention mode, trying to introduce the case management in the assistance of the disabled family, and the draw the conclusion. Lastly, the author put forward some suggestions, such as, enhancing the advocacy and cooperation between community, encouraging more participation of nongovernmental capital, improving the ability of social workers. These suggestions are help to promote case management combined with the practice of serving for the disabled in Suzhou, and helping the disabled and the family to recovery the social ability.
