The development of teachers in the rural compulsory school is the key to guarantee the fair of rural education and improve the quality of rural education. The youth teachers born in 1980s and 1990s bear the characteristics of the times in their thoughts and behaviors. The youth teachers the rural compulsory school play significant role in the improvement of rural education. So we should pay more attention to the living situation and work motivation of them.The paper takes the youth teachers in the rural compulsory school of Hubei as example and study the work motivation of teachers. The results of the study are as follows:1. Different youth teachers have diverse preferences in work motivation. It shows that the pushing effect of nine basis elements of teachers’ work motivation on teachers’work is different, The pushing effect of intrinsic work motivation on teachers’work from high to low as follows were:Job interest; Professional identity; Responsibility; Recognition and Evaluation; Professional accomplishment; Work satisfaction and Occupational well-being; Professional promotion and development; Relationship; Provocative. The score of extrinsic work motivation on teachers’work ranked by decending order were:Remuneration; School administration; Work condition and environment; Social support; Job stability and security; Occupational status; Organizational objectives; School belongings; Personal life.2. It shows that the pushing effect of eighteen basis elements of teachers’ work motivation on teachers’work is different, The score of work motivation on teachers’ work ranked by descending order were:Remuneration; School administration; Job interest; Professional identity; Responsibility; Work condition and environment; Social support; Job stability and security; Recognition and Evaluation; Occupational status; Professional accomplishment; Work satisfaction and Occupational well-being; Professional promotion and development; Relationship; Organizational objectives; School belongings; Provocative; Personal life.3. There is significant difference of pushing effect of intrinsic work motivation on teachers’ work in gender and school stage. There is significant difference of pushing effect of extrinsic work motivation on teachers’ work in gender and school stage. There is significant difference of pushing effect of work motivation on teachers’ work in gender and school stage.Through field investigation and in-depth interview, It also found that there are some of the more prominent issues in work motivation of youth teachers in the Rural Compulsory school: 1.The career development is undefined; 2. The specialization of teachers is in low level, the sense of self-development is weak; 3. Lack of Work satisfaction and Occupational well-being; 4.The social support system is weak; 5.The work condition and environment are poor; 6. The spiritual and cultural life is not rich; 7. The social association of youth teachers tends to marginalization; 8. The economic status and social status are in low standard; 9.The average salary and the welfare are imperfect.Some suggestions to promote the work motivation of youth teachers in Rural compulsory school were as following aspects:Take people as the foremost and improve the rural teachers’ growth and development; Set up the mechanism of multidirectional communication, Improve the teachers social support system; Improve the working conditions and meet the basic survival needs of the rural teachers; Formulate scientific and rational compensation system and meet the needs of the rural teachers’ welfare.
