Research On Employment Problems Of Higher Vocational Colleges In Pearl River Delta Region

The employment of college students is an important part of China’s labor employment and the allocation of human resources. It is closely related to nation’s economic and social development, higher education system, as well as the labor and personnel system. In recent years, the development of higher vocational education in China is rapid, and it has become an indispensable part of higher education in our country. With the development of the employment policy and the adjustment and upgrading of the industrial structure, the number of university students increased dramatically. The employment problem of higher vocational graduates becomes severe. At the same time, the issue has become the current research topic in the field of public administration.Based on the existing employment policy and the achievements in Pearl River Delta region in Guangdong, the author analyzes the problems of the current employment policy through various means, e.g. literature research, questionnaires, case investigation and review of public policy of employment in Higher Vocational Colleges as well as the graduates’ employment data of Pearl River Delta region. Then, analyzes and summarizes the insufficiency and its causes of the employment policy. The author put forward the policy revising recommendations correspondingly and suggestions for improving the employment rate of the higher vocational graduates.This paper mainly takes higher vocational colleges in Zhuhai in Guangdong as an example t o research on the existing employment problems. It is divided into five parts:the first part mainly discusses the general situation of collage graduates’ employment in Guangdong, including what have been done to employment by colleges in Guangdong. The second part elaborates the necessity of employment by higher vocational collages in Pearl River Delta region, including the necessity of the implementation of the policy, improvement of the efficiency of labor allocation and building the employment capacity of college graduates. The third part illustrates the existing problems and causes in the field of broadening employment channels, building the employment capacity of college graduates and enhancing the employment services. The four parts introduces five ways to further the employment of Higher Vocational Graduates in Guangdong province. Firstly, promote the notion of lifelong learning to guide the employment of graduates. Secondly, improve government’s employment policy. Thirdly, improve the existing education mode of colleges. Fourthly, improve employment policy of businesses. Finally, improve the construction of local labor market to boost employment of higher vocational graduates in Pearl River Delta region.
