Hidden curriculum is a kind of educational resource which exists in every corner of university’s campus. By a hidden, implied, and long-term way, hidden curriculum has powerful infectivity and educational affection to students silently and quietly. Hidden curriculum is an important way to cultivate students. In recent years, China’s hidden curriculum of university has received great developments, but still exist some disadvantages to be solved urgently. In today’s educational background of internationalization of higher education, it is necessary to learn some successful experiences from other countries. America is one of the most developed countries in the world. America’s higher education has perfect and advanced educational concepts and management system. Besides, its construction of universities’ hidden curriculum also has many shining points which are worth our using for reference. Harvard University is a world-renowned first-class university, and Beijing University is the top university in China. Comparing the hidden curriculum of these two universities and concluding some inspirations, has reference value for our country to develop university’s hidden curriculum.The study will begin with analyzing some relevant concepts of hidden curriculum, the relationship between these concepts, the features and functions of university’s hidden curriculum, and the elements of it. Next, the study goes to comparative study between America’s and China’s university——Harvard University and Beijing University, studying in material level, spiritual level, institutional level, and behavior level. And then the study will analyze the main disadvantages of China’s university hidden curriculum in the process of development. Last but not least, based on the comparative study and the disadvantages in the previous analyses, we can draw some inspirations to develop university’s hidden curriculum.Via this study, we can find some similarities and differences of university’s hidden curriculum between China and America. Based on the comparative study and the disadvantages in the previous analyses, we can draw some inspirations to develop university’s hidden curriculum. The inspirations as follow: to perfect theory on university management, to renew universities’ facilities; to combine management and education on the “care for people” principle; to build harmonious relationship and to hold colorful activities.
