With the development of information technology and education reform, a variety of high-quality online learning resources show exponentially increasing trend, however the application status of these large and high-quality online courses is not optimistic. One very important reason is that the online learning resources are mainly one-way dissemination, which lacks teacher-student interaction and can’t reflect the interactive features of network. In this situation, automatic question answering system for its characteristics of unlimited time-space provides a feasible solution for improving current resource utilization and realizing real-time answering for students.In the study of automatic question answering system, the first problem is to build the knowledge base. Ontology as a machine-understandable language supports analyzing information from the perspective of semantic understanding, along with the inference mechanism producing more knowledge. With analysis of relevant ontology theory and existing research results, this paper proposes a new ontology automatic constructing method based on Internet and selects five subjects randomly to evaluate the effectiveness of automatic constructing technology from the perspective of time complexity and resource consumption.The ontology constructing is divided into three main sections including resource crawling, domain concepts extraction and ontology relation building. Resource crawling module mainly completes web crawler’s preparatory work and improves CAS segmentation. In the domain concept extraction module, based on probability theory and with the analysis of established keyword index table, extracts high-frequency words as alternative domain concepts. In relations building module, by mining techniques, analyze all the pages and calculate the value of all associations for concepts and individuals to complete the establishment of ontology. Based on this technology, this paper took C Program Design for example to conduct experimental platform. Compared with hand-built ontology, experiments verified feasibility of the technology in practical applications using qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. Finally, with the constructed ontology as knowledge base, a semantic question-answering system was established to compensate for teachers-students communication insufficient in online learning.The design and implementation of course ontology automatic construction, on the one hand proposes a new knowledge base constructing form, which provides a technical basis for the study of QA system builders. On the other hand, it greatly reduces the manual work cycle of ontology construction, simplifies the tedious process of ontology construction. The solving of ontology automatic construction has practical significance of development of QA systems and improvement of current e-learning resources.
