Inquiry teaching is the method that students should be taken to the subject position, and explore knowledge to solve problems by themselves under the guidance of their teacher. By understanding the objective things and exploring the laws of things’ development, students will be able to draw a conclusion based on their own knowledge. Therefore, in this process, students’ autonomous learning ability would have been improved, which is the trend of the current training. This is also why a new round of curriculum reform is carrying out this kind of teaching method.With the advancement of new curriculum reform, inquiry teaching is widely carried out in high school biology experiment class. However, in the less developed rural area, inquiry teaching in biological experiment teaching of high school is still struggling its way. The limited research fund results in poor facilities, the lack of the teaching staff and badly-educated students. Under such conditions, the urgent problem to solve is how to change students’ current thinking mode and how to improve the professional quality of teachers. This essay focuses on description of biological inquiry-based classroom experiments carried out in the rural Senior high school of Huangpi District, Wuhan City. After the survey on biology teachers from the 14 rural high schools, the author analyses the problems existing in the biological inquiry experiment teaching, including the problem about the education environment, how to create situation for learning, and how to carry out class guidance. Then the author analyses the changes of the concept of teachers and the students, and the teaching strategies. Finally, after the analysis, the author explains the different class types and the teaching content in the rural areas. The author concludes that it is effective and practical to apply inquiry teaching in the rural high school in Wuhan city, and hope the research can improve the level of biology inquiry teaching in the rural high school.
