The construction of "Three Direct Links and Two Platforms" is the core aim and sign project of China’s education informationization construction over the next decade. The "E-learning Space" is the key point and difficulty. It used to promote innovation of teaching and learning methods. Henan province constructs e-learning space based on Sakai. However during apply it in teaching, there is a problem that the learning resource module is inconveniently to be used, resulting in that few of students used the resources. The subject, how to improve the functions of learning resource management module for making full use of high quality resources, needs to be researched urgently. So this paper studies "Design and Realization of the Learning Resource Management Assistant Tool Based on Sakai Platform".First of all, on the basis of reviewing related research at home and abroad, this research adopts the method of questionnaire to get demands for the e-learning space of teachers and students, and compares with functions about the resource module of Sakai. Then, with the guiding of knowledge management, instructional system design, software design theory, the "Learning Resource Management Assistant Tool" has been designed to improve the functions of learning resource management. It includes functions of uploading, downloading, classifying, sharing and collecting resources, recommending the high quality resources, viewing videos, office files online, creating and sharing personalized study notes, etc.Secondly, this paper introduces the development environment and building process. In accordance with the design of function modules, the "Learning Resource Management Assistant Tool" has been developed with the technical support of Java, MVC and ZK, the auxiliary of free software such as Red5, FlashPaper and CKeditor.Finally, we embed this tool into Sakai, then test each functions following the planed steps and combining with the specific course. After this, we investigate the teachers and students who participated in this acceptance test, and summarize evaluation from them.The results show that this learning resource management assistant tool can help learners browse a variety of resources online without downloading them. The functions such as sharing, collection, recommending high quality resources, recording study notes are welcomed by the users. The research achievements have practical meaning for promoting learning resources sharing and improving e-learning effect.
