In 2004, the new high-school curriculum reform was launched, which covered the reformation of many aspects such as curriculum concept, goal, design, content, evaluation and so on. One major bright spot is that elective courses are designed. As the important media of curriculum reform, textbooks of elective courses are key to implement the reform and the quality of textbook compilation will impose a direct impact on the effect of elective courses.Regarding classical Chinese poetry, elective textbooks of PEP version, based on the experimental Ordinary High School Standard Curriculum(Chinese) have their own characteristics in compiling style design, literature selection, knowledge system and exercise system. At the same time, this paper will carry out a comparative study among textbooks of PEP, Jiangsu and Shandong versions, which will analyze the similarities and differences in classical Chinese poetry compilation. Additionally, this paper also takes 36 teachers and 400 students from two high schools in Hubei Province as the research object. Questionnaires are adopted to investigate two major aspects:one is to obtain students’ point of view regarding the textbooks; the other is to approach the current situation of the teaching. On this basis, This paper will also give some concrete and workable strategies within developing recitation habits, strengthening poetry appreciation, actively discovering and integrating resources and carrying out various forms of teaching activities. These strategies will combine the features of textbooks compilation and actual teaching experience for the purpose of providing the teaching practice of PEP elective courses with valuable reference.
