This subject research mainly focuses on core concepts, as are suggested by the Biology Curriculum for Compulsory Education,2011, which hold the core to the success of Biology education in junior high school, and therefore determines the choice of teaching strategies and approaches. There are also a general description of study objectives and significance, an overview of the previous studies domestically and internationally along with the elaborations of series of definitions, concepts, strategies on Biology teaching.It is noted that under the circumstances of the New Curriculum Standards, much emphasis should be put on the logical connection among biological contents to promote the systematical study of this subject. Based on the author’s practice in teaching as well as literature review, the demonstration of case study meanwhile proves how these approaches benefit the recognition of core concepts and enhance students’ academic performance, which in turn requires teachers’lasting dedication and commitment. The thesis gives explicit explanation on teaching approaches like applying contextual factors, conducting group discussion or using role-play in class.
