Investigaton And Analysis Of Current Situating By Social Factors In The Development Of Ice Hockey In Macao

Macau Ice Sports Federation (MISF) was established in2004. The objective of it is to promote and develop the Ice Sports in Macau. With the funding and support from the Macau Government, and the International Ice Hokey Federation (IIHF), MISF is under a certain foundation for development.Six researching method were conducted with this study:Document Research,Personal Visit, Survey, Logical Analysis,Statistical Data Analysis and Site Investigation. The person included in the survey are: training personnel in Macau, amateur athletes, varsity team’s achievement in international competitions and factors influencing its development in these areas to analyze in different perspectives; thereby to understand the current state of ice hockey in Macau, and give feasible advice for improvements.Conclusions from the study1Majority of the ice hockey training personnel in Macau are aged20-30(67%) and31-40(33%), with a ratio of male to female at5to1. They are mostly Macau locals (67%), with the remaining coming from Mainland China (33%). Their coaching experience are mostly1-5years (83%) with some of them up to6-10years (17%). They are mainly part-time workers, but are professional and dedicated to the sport.2Majority of the ice hockey athletes in Macau are aged26-35(27%) and26-35(21%), with a ratio of male to female at9:1. They are mostly Macau locals (85%), others are from Canada (7%), the United States (4%), China (2%), Japan (1%) and the Philippines (1%). As for the motivations, the athletes perform training to reserve a good health, build up their body and as a stress reliever.
