In the trend of global economic integration, China and other countries are becoming muchcloser in terms of political, economic and cultural exchanges than before. As a result, followingthe world-wide “Craze for Chinese Language”at the beginning of the century, more and moreforeigners start learning Chinese and getting to know the Chinese culture. In many countries,Chinese has become the first or the second largest foreign language. According to the statistics ofNOCFL, the number of people learning Chinese outside China has risen to100millions. TakeThailand as an example, since2003, the number of Chinese language learners has grown fromtens of thousands to nearly a million. Nevertheless, with the dramatic increase of Chineselanguage learners, the quality of Chinese language teaching in Thailand is worrying. MostChinese instructors are teachers volunteer Chinese teachers or government-sponsored fromChina. In Thailand, most schools offering Chinese language courses are in lack of Chineselanguage teachers. In this case, the Chinese volunteer teachers have a big burden of instruction------long teaching hours and heavy work load, which greatly affects the quality of Chineselanguage teaching in Thailand..Thus, how to improve the quality of teaching by optimizing the design of classroomteaching in order to adapt to the current teaching environment has become one of the key pointsin Chinese Language Teaching and Research. In this case, appropriate teachingstrategies need to be developed so as to maximize student participation in class, to increase student acceptance of teachers and classroom lectures, to stimulate the enthusiasm of students oflanguage learning, and to promote their ability of independent study. An excellent Chineseteaching design not only enables teachers to accomplish teaching activities and teachingefficiency, but also it is of great significance to facilitate the students’ Chinese learning and tohelp spreading the Chinese culture in other countries. On the basis of the analysis of the current instructional design research background, purposeand significance, combining the basic theories of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, thispaper, taking the lesson "I was sick" as an example, analyzes the relevant factors in teaching, integrating Chinese knowledge and culture into the instructional design.
