As typical academic institutions, the academic attribute has not changed in Universities. However, due to the restriction of power structure, the academic status of Universities has been at a disadvantage situation under the traditional leadership pattern. Therefore, the internal reform and development in Universities is mostly focus on the academic power and status. On the other hand, with the development of the society and the rich function, Universities have rich function and need to face tasks which are becoming more and more complex. That means the traditional leadership pattern of Universities has been challenged by the internal and external environment of Universities, and this pattern has not effectively solve the current problems on the management work of Universities. As a result, it is better to get a diverse leadership pattern whicn is in order to make the traditional leadership pattern rich and complementary of Universities.It was taken the University leadership pattern as the researching object in this study which is using the distributed leadership theory to build the University distributed leadership pattern to provide the reference for the reform and development of Universities. The literature research method, the historical research method and the model construction method are used in this thesis. First of all, the relevant contents of distributed leadership theory was deeply analyzed which include the definition of related concepts, the characteristics, the types and also the comparison with others similar concepts. It has provided the theoretical basis for building University distributed leadership model for the analyzing of the following part. Secondly, based on the common nature of traditional leadership system, the seven leading systems are divided into three categories. According to the process of the system evolution, it has been outlined different stages of University leadership structure and summarized the distribution characteristics of Universities’power and present situation of the internal management. The background and environment of the distributed leadership pattern which is built in Universities was also analyzed in the study. Finally, based on the theory and the analysis of the background and also with the standards of the different distribution by distributed leadership, the distributed leadership pattern for the organization layer and the team level has been proposed which includes the concept model and practical model. It was analyzed from the positive influence on distributed leadership pattern used in Universities as well as the facing difficulties. In the end, it was summarized by this research, the implications that the distributed leadership has brought to the University management.
