With the development of market economy, and the demands from integrated development of technology for discipline group forming, University management system, particularly the "school" and "department" system have begun to restrict development of university. Therefore, many universities have introduced the faculty system. There reform is bound to cause problems. The faculty reform of D University has brought problems to the faculty (school) office.Combining relevant policies of D University, the management system of each office and its formation mechanism, this paper surveys and analyzes the status of these offices, and summarizes the problems of D university’s department office:the setting of office staff is unreasonable; the mechanism of office management is not smooth; the internal administrative responsibilities division between faculty and school is unclear; average daily working time gap between different administrative staff is too large. There are causes of these problems from institutional and from mechanism, and its development history.By analyzing the causes of these problems, and combined with the actual situation of university and the status of domestic university management, this paper presents suggestions to improve the administration of its department office:to improve the faculty management mechanism; to improve the administration institutional building; to raise the level of professionalism and specialization of office workers.
