High school is the student into a golden age. On the one hand, high school students will comprehensively strengthen the scientific and cultural knowledge learning; On the other hand, more should pay attention to the value of their right to education, cultivate their sound character. Frugality as the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation, not only is a reflection of individual moral quality, but also plays an important role in promoting the country rich, democracy to take off. Thrift cultivating high school students, to help them develop a healthy way of life, enhance their sense of responsibility, and more importantly, thrift education to strengthen the socialist core values education for high school students is of great significance. However, because of the high school students’ physical and mental development characteristics, and comprehensive factors such as social, family, school education, many high school students has a strong desire to consume. Like comparison, excessive pursuit of famous brand, pay attention to costly ostentation and extravagance, saving consciousness. As high school thought political lesson teacher, we must base on the high school thought political lesson teaching to cultivate the students’ economical qualities. To explore the effective ways to strengthen students’ thrift, to improve high school students to health, frugal lifestyles and consumption patterns of the correct understanding, and to help them set up correct view and concept of honor and disgrace of thrift.The article explores how to cultivate the high school students’ economical qualities from five parts in the ideological and political lessons. Firstly, it definite the word of economical qualities. Secondly, it explains the importance of the culture of the high school students’ economical qualities. Thirdly, it analyses the current situation of the high school students’ economical qualities and focuses on the causes of its existence. Fourthly it explores the countermeasures of cultivating the high school students’ economical qualities. The last part is a reflection on teaching effectiveness.
