Under severe employment situation, in order to adapt to the rapid development of knowledge economy in the new period and high quality requirements of human beings that to be more perfect, our country’s higher education takes quality education as the target and is in full swing to reform. Practice has proved that art education is the core of aesthetic education, and has played a unique role in cultivating high quality all-round talents. It is not only an important part of humanistic quality education, and also a major part of higher-education reform. Academic studies of art education is not new, in addition to art colleges, comprehensive universities, normal universities, Science and technology universities also put art education into the talent training plan and set up few art classes as specialized courses and elective courses. But compared with other colleges, the science and engineering colleges’ public art education is on the rise and have some problems, such as late start, slow development, which need more exploration. And specific information on the development of public art education remains to be further verified, whether fulfilling the basic tasks and requirements, setting up reasonable curriculum, whether really improving the comprehensive quality of students, etc. This thesis carries out the research in the form of a questionnaire investigation for junior at Zhejiang university of technology. Then with the help of software to analyze data processing, discussing some of the problems that exist and put forward countermeasures to public art education.
