The Analysis Of The Current Higher Education Of Agriculture In XJPCC

China agricultural education has grown into an education system with Chinese characteristics through decades’ development in which higher agricultural education has been playing a key role. A great number of farmers’ schools have become multidisciplinary colleges with distinctive characteristics within a century. As an outstanding university in Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, Shihezi University is aware that the region’s agricultural development is of great significance to the social security and economic development of Xinjiang. Therefore, with great concern about the region’s development and progress, Shihezi University has been playing a positive role in cultivating talents in the field of agriculture.Applying literature research method, contrastive analysis and investigation, this paper mainly discusses on the subject of higher agricultural education in Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. Based on the current situations of Shihezi University, this paper gives an analysis on such aspects as student enrollment, employment, discipline construction, faculty building, research and development in terms of the Agriculture College of the university. The conclusion is drawn that the student enrollment is well accomplished while the employment rate is dropping in general. With its distinctive discipline structure and talent cultivating model, the college is engaged in undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education. A great deal of discipline has grown into regional leading ones. Meanwhile this paper analyzes on the shortcomings and disadvantages we are facing nowadays.This paper consists four parts:the first part gives a brief introduction of current situation of the study home and abroad in terms of higher agricultural education in Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps with the background study of regional advantages. Taking Shihezi University as an example the second one gives an introduction to student enrollment, employment, discipline construction, faculty building, research and development while the third part gives an analysis on the issues to the above aspects. The forth part of the paper proposes countermeasures to cope with those issues and it argues that the college should cooperate with enterprises to raise employment rate with the information platform, the discipline structure should be optimized, the college should actively hold international academic seminars and invite experts and scholars to lecture while encouraging faculties to study overseas, the sabbatical system should be built and perfected for the cooperation between college and enterprises, we should explore new talent cultivating models, make more efforts in helping young faculties and drawing more talents and academic leaders. This paper, taking Shihezi University as an example, aims at searching for innovative road which applies to the current situations of the agricultural development in Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
