School associations are mass organizations founded by common interests. Association activities are carried out through certain aims and statutes. School associations have such characteristics as effective forms of self-management, self-education and self-service for students, effective carrier of education for all round development pushed by schools and strong hand of Communist Youth League work in schools, playing a more and more important role in aspects such as strengthening ideological and political education, promoting students’all-round development, pushing campus culture construction and so on.Through the research on the basic concept, main characteristics and fundamental functions of school associations and the thorough analysis of school associations’current status, the thesis finds out problems as well as achievements in the construction of school associations. The problems lie in indefinite guidelines, incomplete management systems and the lack of communication and exchange with the outside world.After summarizing these problems and considering the practical situation, the thesis puts forward basic approaches to school associations’construction.The construction of school associations should be in the following aspects:thought construction, organization construction, system construction and environment construction. Besides, external support should be enhanced, development conditions should be provided, self-building must be strengthened, competitive mechanism must be completed, featured school associations must be built.Only by these means can we achieve overall, healthy, scientific and sustainable development of school associations, thus making school associations play a more important role in ideological and political education, campus culture construction and students’all-round development.
