Cross-culture management is one of the most important areas of research in the era of globalization. Studies of the related research on cross-culture management at home and abroad are abundant. However, the researches on the special form of Sino-foreign institutes of educational cooperation could rarely be found. This kind of organization has the nature of international corporations as well as that of Chinese educational institutes. This research is to creatively apply the theories in cross-culture management to this category of business and experiment these theories in the institute where the author worked as a manager on Chinese side. This thesis summarizes the application of cross-culture management theories to this special form of international business organization, analyzes the practical values of these theoretical propositions and discusses the feasibility and values of cross-culture management theories. The research project first tries to answer the questions:what are the special problems of cross-culture management in the Sino-Foreign institutes of educational cooperation or joint-venture, how are they different from those of other international business organizations, can cross-culture management theories in general be applied to this kind of organization, and how? To answer these questions, the author reviews relative theories of cross-culture management at home and abroad and analyzes some important researches and theories. On bases of these works the author proposes her own approach of research and methodology. The main body of the thesis develops on the basis of the research approaches and methodology I set in the chapter three. I located problems and questions in the cross-culture management of the institute and categorize and analyze them according to related theoretical framework. The causes of cultural conflicts then are studied and the possible solutions proposed. Some of these solutions have been successfully applied to the cross-culture management of the institute. All the cross-cultural conflicts involve the differences in values, managerial ideas, business conventions and customs, and daily cross-culture communication. Using the related theories and personal experience in cross-culture business organization, the author has solved most of these conflicts. The thesis in the end also suggests the construction of organizational culture for this kind of business endeavors. The core of the organizational culture should be based on the values accepted by both Chinese and Westerners. This core can be summarized into four Chinese words: Coordination, Efficiency, Creativity and Win-win. The four concepts are accepted by the foreign partner with successful effects. This research still has something to desire:1. Theoretical framework is not quite appropriate for the job and creative theoretical construction is needed.2. As a case study, the result and its application need to be applied to more cases to confirm its validity in general.
