In recent years, the migration of population became more actively with thedevelopment of reform and opening up and the household registration system. In thetide of the migration, the migration population in our country’s border areas becamefrequent. The effect on the migration of Jilin Province has been remarkable. Themigration includes not only the traditional provincial migration and interprovincialmigration, but also including cross-border migration.Jilin Province covers187400square kilometers with the l1438.7kilometer-longborder line. It lies in the hinterland of Northeast Asia, which includes6border cities,2border counties,1border districts and1border autonomous county. These borderareas’ location is special, where minority gathered and has fragile ecologicalenvironment. It leads to a slower economy and low population quality. Therefore, thestudy on the border areas of population migration and economic and socialdevelopment not only may correctly guide the orderly flow and reasonabledistribution of population, but also is related to the development and stability of theborder areas, so it has great reality significances to long period of stability of China.Based on the analysis of relevant studies, the article is divided into five chapters:The first chapter: the introduction of the background and significance of thistopic, and literature review, the data sources used in this investigation and researchmethods. The second chapter: The basic concept and related theories of migration. Themain concept of my paper includes: the land border areas, migration and populationmobility. E.G.Raven Stan’s seven migration, Reasoning-Rally theory, Dual structuremodel of economic development, and Todaro Migration Model. These theories are ofgreat significance for the study of population migration and socio-economicdevelopmentThe third chapter: according to outflow survey data and annual survey data of theNational Population and Family Planning Commission in2011of the border areapopulation were statistically analyzed, focusing on the analysis of status and characteristics of population outflow in the border areas of Jilin Province It Includesthe migration development and present situation of Jilin Province and thedemographic characteristics of migration(sex, age, marital status, flow characteristicsand socio-economic characteristics). The fourth chapter: according to analysis of migration data in the border areas ofJilin Province, this paper adopt Binary Function Logistic Regression analysis byusing SPSS.It can be found through analysis that age, ethnicity, marital status andeducation level and other factors have a very important impact on the migrationpopulation. Young adults are prone to migration, married population is more prone tomigrate than unmarried people and people with relatively low level of education aremore willing to move out of the crowd. The majority of Yanbian are Korean minority, and they can take advantage of their own language and geographic advantages tomove to South Korea and other countries. The fifth chapter: the migration is a favorable impact, but there are also somedisadvantages. The Migration does promote economic development, but it also bringssome risks on environment, employment and security to the areas where they move insuch as the labor shortage, idle land and other issues, left-behind children, theleft-behind elderly and left-behind women. To solve these problems, we must find outsome effective ways. It is not just related to building a moderately prosperous societyand is important for the country’s long-term stability.
