English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills are inseparable from the learning of vocabulary. English vocabulary learning in junior middle school is the initial stage of English learning, its primary task of teaching research is how to make the students master and enlarge vocabulary and adapt to the needs of the development of their own, this problem needs every English teacher to explore actively. At present, in the junior middle school English vocabulary teaching, the teachers put the mechanical vocabulary teaching methods in the first place; neglect the students’understanding of vocabulary and the student’s ability of using vocabulary. This puts off the autonomous learning of students after the class, makes students lose interest in vocabulary learning, and seriously affects the effects of vocabulary teaching. How to effectively arouse the students’interest in learning vocabulary, improve students’ memory of vocabulary skills, is the problem that each English teacher must think about.Although there have been numerous research on the multiple intelligences theory at home and abroad, but most research discuss from the influence of the English teaching, such as the change in teaching ideas and the overall teaching design, but the research which is combined with English vocabulary teaching research in junior middle school has not much. At the same time, The New Curriculum Standard stated the higher request for middle school students’ English level, under such circumstances, this paper will make research from the perspective of English vocabulary teaching based on the multiple intelligences theory in junior middle school.Based on the framework of the multiple intelligences theory, according to the corresponding teaching principles, the author designs English vocabulary teaching methods and activities, discusses how to use the multiple intelligences theory to stimulate students interest in English vocabulary learning, mobilize their autonomous learning ability, and promote the junior middle school students’English vocabulary learning ability. In this paper the author uses questionnaire and interview to analyze the current situation of junior middle school English vocabulary teaching and learning, then collects and sorts out the results of the survey, summarizes the problems existing in the junior middle school English vocabulary teaching, difficulty and the influencing factors. Then the author improves the junior middle school English vocabulary teaching, and probes into the suggestion, according to the theory of multiple intelligences teaching principle, references and data, summarizes the following teaching strategies:method of perception, method of induction, method of music appreciation, method of situational simulation, method of action demonstration.On the basis of the study of the multiple intelligences theory, the author designed the junior middle school English vocabulary experiment. The author chooses two parallel classes of a junior middle school in Xinyang, Henan province for one semester. Experimental class is taught by English vocabulary teaching methods under the guidance of the multiple intelligences theory, and control class is taught by the traditional vocabulary teaching methods. The pretest paper and post-test paper are the same paper which is the English final examination test paper designed by city bureau of education. SPSS19.0software is applied to the analysis of experimental class and control class in the pretest and post-test. The city education bureau provides the final English test paper, which has good reliability and validity, and basically reflects the teaching goal of the English New Curriculum Standard, can measure students’comprehensive ability to use language. By using SPSS19.0software, the author compares and analyzes the experimental results, it shows that the students’ score of experimental class is significantly higher than the students’ score of control class. Therefore, under the guidance of the multiple intelligences theory, English vocabulary teaching methods can improve the students’vocabulary skills, stimulate students’ interest in learning, arouse the enthusiasm of students’ learning, and improve the students’ability to memorize vocabulary, promote the development of students’multiple intelligences, and the English teaching quality will be improved significantly.
