Ancient poetry is an important part of Chinese teaching in middle school. It has aremarkable effect on the cultivation of students’ Humanism. There are manyproblems in ancient poetry teaching: only attach importance to word teaching; applymechanically and ignore the students’ appreciation of the poetic meanings; theexplanations are only given by the teacher and students do not have enough chancesto play the role in class; pay too much attention to reading, but the reading method isnot appropriate for the ancient poetry teaching etc.Theme study gets on the academic research stage with multi-angle theoreticalguidance and research method. It has broken the boundaries of traditional disciplinesand looks for links between different subjects. It makes integration of each subject soas to build a platform of extensive knowledge learning. The theme study emphasizesstudents as the center. It is close to students’ daily life and has the problem, theme,open and integrated features. In the field of Chinese subject, Dou Guimei is therepresentative putting theme study into teaching practice. Dou Guimei’s theme studyemphasizes on the teaching theme and tries to get the dispersed knowledge togetherso as to make the formation of three-dimensional effect of Chinese teaching. At thesame time, Dou Guimei’s theme study pays attention to training students’ emotionworld and helps the students to form correct emotional attitudes and values. Thereare many research achievements in subject in ancient poetry study. Chinese ancientpoetry can be arranged, divided into parting, provenance, love, cherish time, army,suffering, life and death and nostalgia. The paper attempts to combine the themeteaching topic extraction mode and the study of ancient poetry themes so as to explorethe practice of the theme teaching of ancient poetry teaching.The paper mainly includes there parts: first is the meaning and characteristics oftheme teaching, second is the classification of Chinese ancient poetry, third is thetheoretical and practice exploration of theme teaching framework in ancient poetrystudy using the theme teaching methods. The second part analyses the collection of Chinese ancient poetry in middle school textbooks as the basis of exploration andconstruction.
