As linear programming plays an important role in economics, it is a compulsory course for college students who majors in engineering, finance, management and other related majors. Introducing simple fundamental knowledge about linear programming in the high school stage is to cultivate the idea of optimization and the application consciousness of mathematics for senior students. With the reform of college entrance examination paying more attention to the cultivation of students’ability, linear programming occupies a certain position in the examination, and even in a trend of increasing scores. Therefore, it is a task teachers should pay much attention to solve that how to improve the teaching efficiency of simple linear programming knowledge, how to strengthen students’ mathematical modeling ability and how to enhance students’application awareness on mathematics.Methods of literature review, experimental research are used in this paper. Freudenthal’s teaching thought on mathematics, Dewey’s children-center theory, the basic theory of linear programming and duality theory are the theoretical basis. The exploring on the application of the duality theory in linear programming are as follows:(1) the connection between the dual theory and linear programming problem;(2) the benefits of teachers using the duality theory to guide the teaching of linear programming problem in senior school;(3) the benefits for senior students from the teaching of linear programming problem based on the duality theory. Further more, Through experimental research, draw the conclusion:Conclusions:(1) introducing duality theory of linear programming teaching, can promote the students understand and consolidate the contents of linear programming, improve students’academic performance.(2) introducing duality theory of linear programming teaching, can expand students’thinking, promote the construction of knowledge system of students;(3)Linear programming duality theory into teaching, can stimulate students to continue learning, keep learning enthusiasm.Teaching suggestions:(1)condition permitted, carry out extracurricular on simple linear programming;(2)The introduction of dual theory in linear programming teaching should focus onpractical situation;(3)Linear programming duality theory introduced into the teaching should pay attention to students in the easily confused the issue as a starting point.
