Teachers’ understanding and grasp for teaching idea is the key of new educationalthought to be in force in teaching practice. Because of the special nature of biological researchobject, because of its special attributes including science, life, experimental, etc, thatdetermine the biology teachers in the absorption of general teaching idea, also be combinedwith the characteristics of biological subjects, forming the teaching idea consistent with thebiological. The research on teaching idea are mostly from the perspective of the generalteaching or frontline teachers’ non-system thinking from practice to theory for some teachingproblems, or simply analyzed and discussed of the idea of the New Curriculum. Biologicalindependent and complete system of teaching idea system has not been established, for thissituation, the paper attempts to establish the system of biological teaching idea to some extent.The paper analyzed the idea, the teaching idea and its characteristics, discussed thevalues, students outlook, activities outlook of modern teaching, indicating the social andcultural context of modern teaching. Based on this and the general educational theory andlearning theory, taking the new curriculum reform of biology as the guiding ideology,combined with special properties of biological disciplines, established the system ofbiological teaching idea. Biological teaching idea include theoretical and practical level, thetheoretical level is based on international education trends and mainstream educationalthought, and biological characteristics of subject matter. It includes the worldwide promotionof the idea of lifelong education, designed to help people learn to survive, eventually forminga learning society; the idea of life education that advocates understand life, cherish life; theidea of returning to nature that follow biology essential attributes, to help students understandthe biology and love the nature; the idea of humanistic education that relative to traditionalscience education, for the target to culture students’ humanistic spirit and improve students’humanistic quality. Practical level is based on effective teaching practice of biology andanalysis of promoting the overall development of students. It includes improving biologicalscientific literacy, facing all students, advocating inquiry learning, paying attention to thereal-life connections, and critical thinking education. Through discussion of each of theteaching idea’s proposing, meaning, theoretical basis, applying the principles and practices,approaches, etc. Finally the paper forms biological teaching idea’s theoretical system andpractice system. Concluded that, in teaching practice, it is necessary to execute the biological curriculumstandard’s idea, but also develop it; it is necessary to absorb the general teaching ideas, butalso form the specific ideas with characteristics of biological disciplines. For biologicalteaching, in addition to uphold the teaching ideas of the macro-theoretical level, but also tofollow the specific practical ideas; in addition to improve students’ biological scientificliteracy as training object, but also base on the educational purposes that is the overalldevelopment of students. Biological teaching idea system builds from the curriculumstandards and its development, starting from the general ideas and forming specific biologicalideas, eventually forming a from theory to practice teaching guide system that biologicalteaching practice as starting point and promoting the overall development of students as thegeneral goal.
