"Ordinary high school language curriculum standards (experimental)" presented:high school language curriculum should adapt to the diverse needs of the community for talents. As an extension and supplement compulsory elective, it not only allows students to acquire knowledge, broaden their horizons, strive to enhance the appreciation of literature, but also to help them foster an interest in language learning and develop the personal skills. Therefore, elective courses arrangements and settings are a major feature of the new curriculum reform. Language elective courses were set up five modules, including "Applied Linguistics","Fiction and Drama,""Poetry and Prose,""Culture of Reading","News and Biography." Students can follow their own interests and actual needs to choose any one of a series of training flexibly.Compiling a language-supporting elective textbook is an important condition for language electives and security implementation. Elective language textbooks, as the implementation and important carrier of teachers’ teaching and students’ learning, its writing quality directly affect the implementation of the effect of elective courses. Currently, a wide range of elective textbook versions are written around differentideas and focuses in different regions. At present, Henan Provinceissued a unified PEP(People’s Education Press) elective high schoollanguage teaching (hereinafter referred to as "elective textbook"),taking it for an example, how the use of elective textbooks?Whether the design and content layout of elective science textbookwriting are balanced coordination? Whether the difficulty levels ofelective teaching adapt to the level of physical and mentaldevelopment of high school students? Whether the electiveteaching will enhance personality development of students asplaying its due role, this is an important issue of language educationresearchers need to explore.The object of this study is400students of Luohe No.1SeniorHigh School, No.2Senior High School, No.4Senior High School, No.5Senior High School and Luohe Experimental Senior High School.This survey is talking from the respects of interest, motivation, time,manners, effects, the difficulties and methods by questionnaires,face-to-face interviews and other methods. The survey of thesatisfaction situation after using is taking from the respectsof practicality, content scheduling, and degree of difficulty.Through the statistics of the survey, it is found that presentsituation of the Luohe City high school students’ elective teachingmaterial using is as follows: Students has no choice of the textbook,thus they have little interests of the text book; They have heavyworkload, but lack of using time; they don’t take the textbookseriously, but utilitarian; they lack the effective instruction, thususe the text book roughly; they have too many unsolved questions and the overall effects is not good. The degree of satisfaction ofLuohe High School students’ elective textbooks using is as follows:students has low degree of satisfaction to the selective text books.Comparatively students has high degree of satisfaction tocontent scheduling than to practicality and degree of difficulty.There are big differences between ordinary school andexperimental school in the degree of satisfaction.According to the interviewing method, the author scannedthrough the various factors of using selected teaching material. Andshe tried to give specific strategy from four aspects: students,teachers, schools and the editors of teaching material.1.Students:Pay more attention; Recognize the connection between selectedteaching material and the college entrance examination;Administrative time in effect.2. Teachers: To develop the good habitof reading, the teachers should adopt effectual study strategy; Toadvance the development of personality, they should hold kinds ofextra-curricular activities.3. Schools: Respect to the students’interest, and give them back the option of teaching material; Set upthe Chinese selected course and establish a reasonable scoringsystem.4. The editors of teaching material: Complete theorganization of the high school Chinese selected teaching material;To change the bad condition of using the teaching material, toadvance the development of construction and the reform of the newcurriculum, the teams of editors should be rectified and some newvitality should be added.
